Ozondjou Trails Camp Claimed

Ozondjou is the Herero word for “on the tracks of the desert elephants” and this is exactly what awaits guests at Ozondjou Trails, as they will not come closer to these gentle giants anywhere else in Namibia.

The base camp of the Elephant Human Relations Aid (EHRA) is situated close to Ozondjou Trails and knowledgeable guides inform guests about the elephant population, the farmers living in this area who coexist with the elephants, and the scientists who work to protect the elephants daily.

This innovative and holistic approach to tourism pays off for all the parties involved and creates a more positive perception of these valuable animals. Consisting of only eight comfortable en-suite Meru tents, Ozondjou Trails opened inSeptember 2016.

Located in the beautiful southern Damaraland with elevated views over the mostly dry Ugab River and the Brandberg, the camp was built with minimal impact on nature. The focus of the camp is on the proximity to nature and the local wildlife.

A few facts about the camp:

There are 7 twin tents and 1family tent. Each tent has twin beds, an en-suite bathroom with shower, wash basin and flush toilet. The main area consists of a mess tent with lounge area, a dining table that leads out to an outside sitting area at the firepit with a fantastic view over the Ugab River. Camping-style meals are prepared outdoors on open fire or gas. The camp is only accessible by 4×4. Secure parking and transfers into camp can be arranged on request. The camp will be sold on a 2-night fully inclusive package only. No children under 16 years allowed in camp, due to free-roaming elephants.

N$ 9230 pp sharing. The rate of the 2-night package includes dinner, bed and breakfast,1x picnic lunch, activities and selected local drinks.
