Your hosts Karen and Walter Schmidt with their children Evemi and Otto welcome you. We are the 3rd / 4th generation farmers on Ombu in the Erongo Mountains. Our breathtaking landscape is situated in the heart of Namibia. The farm is 11,600 hectare and lies approximately 300 km North West from Windhoek airport and 50 km West from Omaruru.

The journey to the farm takes you through the unique and beautiful Namibia nature and is already an adventure on its own. The farm is situated in the basin on a wide open plain which is surrounded by the majestic extinct volcanic Erongo Mountains.

We offer game drives in an open 4×4 vehicle, where game sighting is guaranteed. Bird lovers can observe a variety of known and unknown species. For the hikers we have various hiking trails and for those who would like to take a relaxed walk you have come to the right place.

On our farm we have ancient rock engravings and on the neighboring farm we can offer a guided tour to see the massive and impressive rock paintings with over 3000 paintings. Both are worthwhile seeing. All our activities are personally guided with interesting local information and knowledge. No question goes unanswered. It is our pleasure and pride to be your guide at our “home”.

Our pool is perfect for a day sunbathing on a day off or a cool swim after a long day in the bush. To round off the day we offer refreshing drinks and one can watch the amazing and romantic African sunset followed by a “braai” (BBQ) around our campfire. We cater for your culinary needs as well. Karen Schmidt your chef is well known beyond Ombu for her cooking, you will be impressed by her meals and warm family atmosphere. All meals are served in the kitchen or at the Lapa.

Ombu has a fully equipped butchery on the farm and guests are treated with our own produce of meat products. Freshly baked farm bread, homemade marmalade and jam made from home grown fruit and vegetables from the garden.

We offer 5 comfortable guest rooms with own bathrooms, some en-suite. Each room has 220V which is 90% solar generated. There are also 3 camping sites which are approximately 5 to 8 kilometers apart, guaranteeing a quiet and peaceful experience. Guest can wander between points of interest and enjoy magnificent views of the Erongo Crater and wildlife.
