If you are looking for a quiet place in Namibia to unwind and look into the distance, then you have come to the right place.

The campsite was built in February 1998. Oliver & Conny Kayser, owners and experienced campers themselves, chose this site high on a plateau in the mountains on their parents’ farm. While Oliver & Conny go about their business in Windhoek, Absalom, the good soul takes care of their visitors. David and Paul help when there is a lot to do or when Absalom goes on vacation.

The campsite has hot showers and flush toilets. You can buy wood from Absalom or bring your own. It is strictly forbidden to collect wood at the campsite and at Farm Eileen. Wood is bought elsewhere and approached to protect the environment. We offer fire pits and their own water connection on every pitch. There is no electricity and no swimming pool. Please note we do not have a restaurant or shop on site. All groceries can be bought in Omaruru (35km). There is no restaurant in the immediate vicinity that offers meals for campers.

Pets are welcome. Dogs are not allowed to roam alone, they must be on a leash or remain in their space. We do not want your dog to visit other guests and possibly disturb them. You, as the owner, are fully responsible for your pets. Please strictly follow the rules so that pets are still allowed.

During the 2020 “lockdown” period we built private bathrooms on two campsites. A disabled bathroom was built. We are therefore happy to make camping adventures and carefree relaxation possible for people with disabilities.

The Erongo Mountains are located near Omaruru, the most central point in Namibia. The campsite is on Farm Eileen. Damaraland begins at the foot of the Erongo Mountains, where the famous desert elephants live, who also visit our area sporadically.

For the more adventurous, there are hiking trails situated in the mountains. Game on the farm is naturally there. This area is best known for its mountain zebra. You can also see Oryx, Kudu, Steenbok, Damara Dik-dik, Hedgehog etc. Listen to the sounds of hyena, jackal, leopard or even owls at night. Ask Absalom where the walking trail starts. Stay on the walking trails and never walk alone. If you want to walk alone, ask Absalom that he may check your return. We have everywhere cellphone reception. Take your phone with you and phone us in case of an emergency. Always take enough water with you. Your stay and your walking on the farm premises are on your own risk.

We offer:
Silence in nature
Hiking trails in the mountains
Waterhole with solar light at night for wildlife
4 sites each with a fireplace and water point
Shower/toilets – in perfect clean working condition
2 sites with private bathrooms
one wheelchair friendly bathroom

    • How to get there: From the C33 coming from Karibib on your way to Omaruru you turn left into the D2315. After 10 km on the D2315 you enter a gate to the “Erongo Mountain Conservancy”. Guards will write down your car’s registration number. (Please note, it is not a police roadblock! This gate only controls wildlife. No entry fee payable!) After further 14 km, you get our NTB signboard ”Erongo Plateau Camp“, turn left. After 9 km you will find on your left the entrance gate of Farm Eileen. Turn left here. From here on please drive slowly the next 2km on this farm road to the campsite on your right. (GPS 21°31'57.70
