The comfortably-styled Mahangu Safari Lodge is a well-established, older lodge in the eastern Kavango/Caprivi Region of Namibia. The lodge lies next to the Mahango and Buffalo National Park (now called Bwabwata). The word “Mahangu” means “food for the local people”.
Built in 1998, the lodge offers 18 bush huts, 3 family huts, 6 safari tents en-suite, 1 river hut, 1 houseboat and 3 guide huts, a main building, a huge river deck and outdoor bar with a superb view of the Bwabwata National Park and Okavango river, 6 beautiful, river-facing campsites with 220v connectivity and outside ablutions. The pool enjoys a fantastic view of the Okavango River.
The lodge lies amongst huge Jackalberry trees and wild date palms and enjoys excellent views of the Western Bwabwata/Caprivi National Park which is home to many elephants, lion, buffalo, hippos, fish eagles, sable, roan and many more antelope.
Activities include boat cruises, fishing trips and birdwatching. Game drives offered into Mahango and Babwata Park. The Lodge has a huge wooden deck, overlooking the river, where we normally serve our meals and we offer a very cold Draught Beer (vom Fass). Relax at our sparkling swimming pool under shady trees. A highlight at Mahangu is our early morning breakfast cruise that is not to be missed!
End your safari on a special note with our sunset dinner cruise on our magnificent boat.
